TOWN OF GORDON, Wis. (AP/WCCO) — The fire hall that served as a command center during a massive forest fire in northwestern Wisconsin has been destroyed in a blaze that also burned six fire trucks.

Town of Gordon Fire Chief Mike Chmielecki says the fire hall is a total loss. Chmielecki says there were several explosions inside the hall as it burned Thursday, which he says likely came from the truck equipment.

No one was injured in the fire. WDIO-TV reports five agencies worked to extinguish the fire which also destroyed the volunteer firefighters’ gear.

“We are working through the state fire association. There’s other fire departments out there willing to help. We’ve already gotten phone calls about equipment and what our needs will be in the future,” Chmielecki said.

The Gordon Fire Hall, located in Douglas County, was the incident command center during the Germann Road fire last May. Hundreds of first responders used the hall as they fought the blaze that consumed 7,400 acres and caused residents of dozens of homes to evacuate.

No one was injured in Thursday’s blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
